Church of St. Cross, Ivanji Grad
The Succursal Church of St. Cross is the property of the Parish of Komen, and is perched on an elevation just outside the centre of the village Ivanji Grad. The church was built in the middle of the 19th century, whereas the former Gothic church stood a little higher, next to the former castle, a part called “Brith”. The new church still bears a doorway, part of the roof construction and some other valuable artistic features of the former church. The interior has a main altar with the presbytery turned toward the West and not towards the East (Jerusalem) as was customary in churches till the Modern Ages, when this rule began to be dropped. The main motif of the painting on the main altar is the discovery of St. Cross, St. Helene and a Bishop.
